Cape Fear Chapter
The Cape Fear Chapter of the AACA is the oldest and largest club in the Wilmington area affiliated with the national organization. We are dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the automobile in as close to showroom condition as possible.
Our History
The Antique Auto Club of America was organized in 1932 and has been in existence continually since. The Cape Fear Chapter was chartered in 1972 and is one of 18 Chapters in North Carolina and one of over 400 regions and chapters in the United States. To be considered an antique, a vehicle must be 25 years old or older.
The Present
Our Chapter currently has over 90 members, the oldest car being a 1915 Ford Model T and the newest, a 1978 Corvette Silver Anniversary model. We also support local events with displays and parades including the NC Azalea Festival, Riverfest, Christmas parades and many others during the year.
Experience the timeless charm of automotive history at the Classic Car Display, a cherished highlight of the annual Wilmington NC Riverfest. This captivating showcase features a beautiful collection of vintage and classic vehicles, lovingly restored and proudly presented by dedicated enthusiasts. Nestled along the scenic Cape Fear River in Historic Downtown Wilmington, the display invites visitors to admire the elegant craftsmanship, iconic designs, and fascinating stories behind each car—creating a nostalgic atmosphere that connects generations.
Committed to community service, the Sun Coast Cruisers donate thousands annually to local causes, including Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Step Up for Soldiers, Angie’s Amazing Race (breast cancer support), Wounded Warriors, and the CUE Center For Missing Persons. Each Christmas, members spread holiday joy by “adopting” a nursing or assisted living home, delivering gifts in their gleaming classic cars.
The Classic Car Display is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026, during the free, family-friendly Wilmington NC Riverfest on October 3–4. This beloved street fair draws over 114,000 attendees (93% families) and generates more than $13 million in economic impact. Enjoy the Kidz Zone, delicious street food, arts and crafts vendors, live music, food trucks, a Saturday Block Party, and a stunning, wildlife-friendly drone show over the river.
Whether you’re a die-hard car lover or seeking a fun family day out, the Classic Car Display offers a delightful step back in time. Learn more or inquire about participation at www.suncoastcruisers.com or info@suncoastcruisers.com.
